We have movement! I mean that both figuratively and literally!
If you have been following along with my journey lately, you know I have been hanging out in the unknown! Passing through one of those thresholds that is a demarcation between “what was” and “what will be”. We all have them.., my latest one just seems to have lasted a LONG time!
Personally, it feels like I handled this time of not knowing really well! There were certainly times of confusion, boredom, frustration and even a little bit of worry. But for the most part, what I want to celebrate was that I just stayed in the discomfort of not knowing. For a ‘control-freak’.., that’s a big-darn-deal!
I spent plenty of time over the past few months internally observing my own situation. And, I have to say, I have a new appreciation for taking the time to develop “The Observer”. The ability to witness what you are going through (thinking, feeling and experiencing), with detachment and acceptance; knowing and allowing it to be okay. Experiencing your own journey not only from the path you are on, but also from a perch somewhere above. Where the ups and downs are not as dramatic. With a knowing that even though you can’t see what is around the next corner, you know you are right where you are suppose to be!
It feels like this past few months (which at times felt like YEARS) of “observing” my own dance with the unknown, has been about ‘trust’. Trusting that everything will work out exactly as it is meant to be. Trusting that my life is unfolding ‘for me’, not ‘to me’. Trusting that there is a purpose to this time in the liminal or threshold. This means learning to trust inaction as much as I trust action! Or to put it is more spiritual terms… To trust those times of “Being” as much as “Doing”.
Being and doing, are coming into balance with one another. And finding this energetic balance means that each one of us is affected in our own unique way. For those of you who are like me, and are more comfortable ‘doing’.., you may find that as much as you want to do something – there are barriers or blocks in your way. Things that use to take a few days to complete are now taking weeks. Or, as in my case, the way forward is obscured, so the only thing to do is wait for clarity.
This can be hard. It can feel like YOU are out of balance. When in fact, it is you coming into balance. Balance with the the current you.., and even preparing you for who you are becoming! This is where trust is really important.
We set our intention for who we want to be and what we want to create. We then begin to experience the world around us through the lens of these intentions/desires. We make new choices that are aligned with them. Our life begins to change. It is being realigned to support this new direction.
This also means that many of the things that we use to know, do, or value.., are not aligned with this new direction. They begin to slip away. What we don’t realize is that many of the things that are slipping away.., are the things we used to feel safe and secure.., even if they were limiting or restricting us in someway.
We leave them behind and set off on a new course. We are now learning to navigate with new tools and skills toward a different future. No wonder it is easy to feel lost, even when we have years of life experience! We are intending and creating from a completely new perspective. Sometimes you have to simply sit and becoming familiar with everything around you. Even when it looks familiar… It may not be clear which direction we are going in. We are leaving one paradigm behind and moving into another.
But then suddenly, something happens… You know or sense the next step or which direction is beckoning to you. And from the stillness, you feel movement!
That is where I am this week. I feel movement… And THAT is exciting!
