“How do we change the world? One random act of kindness at a time.”
Morgan Freeman, American actor, director, and narrator

How do you feel about being kind and the effect that acts of kindness can have on the world? Kindness, compassion, and love are key elements in the world I envision. There are others too but these 3 are key. I wonder how much energy goes into hate filled words and acts? I would rather create a more positive world and ways to BE through my words and actions! How about you?

Have you noticed people around you being kind with their words and actions or do you notice more unkind and impatient words and actions? Please remember that how you respond to someone’s words or actions will create your experience! Your response is what you can control. In these times of significant change, holidays, and divisive points of view ‘words matter’ and often trigger responses. If you find yourself in this type of situation remember to find your center by taking a few deep breaths before you respond. Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist monk reminds us that, “If you are motivated by loving kindness and compassion, there are many ways to bring happiness to others right now, starting with kind speech.” In turn this also will bring happiness to you!

When you find yourself on the receiving end of someone’s kindness please remain open to receive it. Say ‘thank you’ if it isn’t given anonymously. Some of you will even ‘pay it forward’ so to speak! Recently I learned that it’s still challenging, for me, to accept help from others! I find it’s easier to give than receive! Sound familiar? I know remaining open to receive someone’s help through an act of kindness creates a more positive experience for me. I’m more consciously aware now!

Does BEing kind mean having to do something on a large scale? NO! However, if you pray or meditate you can affect many through your intention and prayer in the Oneness of All That Is, Source. There are no boundaries or limitations! Think about how random acts of kindness can occur in your daily life. Leo Buscaglia, American author, motivational speaker and professor has said, “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” You may never know whose life or the many lives you have touched through your kindness. You will know how it makes you feel though! BE kind without expectations! The kind of world we live in is ours to create and acts of kindness help shape a better place. What kind of world will you choose to create? Will it be filled with kindness?
