Take a deep breath, hold it for a moment, then let it out. Focus on your breathing for a minute or two, allowing each breath to go deeper into your belly. Allow each breath to leave your body completely. By bringing your attention to your breathing, you bring yourself into the moment. Allow all the other thoughts and emotions to slip away or take a back seat to your breathing.

A simple exercise. A common way to begin a meditation. A quick way to de-stress.

Like so many of the skills and techniques that are available to us; this one is simple. You don’t need a special place, equipment, sound, people, event, etc., just choosing at any time to reconnect with yourself. It is so easy – we sometimes forget it works!

Now imagine that you choose to add a special place to this practice of focused breathing. Your favorite chair, in front of a collection of meaningful keepsakes that remind you of your personal adventures or areas of study and knowledge. Perhaps you choose a room or space that is filled with colors that are soothing, stimulating or fun. Add sounds or music that encourage you to let go of daily obligations, tasks, or duties.

Each one of these adds a new level of dimension to the gift of stillness that you are giving yourself. By choosing the environment, objects, sounds, art, color and furniture that support you, while you connect with yourself~you activate and engage your imagination. You bring your focus to your internal world! You are also engaging the power of intention!

The practice of intentionally connecting with yourself and the present moment offers many rewards. The greatest of these is reducing stress, which of course is the most significant cause of dis-ease. Another benefit is that the more you slow down and focus on yourself; the easier it is to hear your own internal guidance and a great way to strengthen your intuitive senses.

The best part is, that the time you spend slowing down, connecting with yourself and being in the moment..,offers the greatest results during the rest of your day! This gift of time that you have given yourself is not the big payoff. Instead, It is how it changes the rest of your life that is the real win! That is why so many people consider their meditation, prayer or yoga practice – Magic Time!

How are you treating yourself to Magic Time? There is no better time, than this moment, to start connecting with the essence of You! There is no better time to focus on Intentional Living!
