Sage – White Sage (Smudge Stick)

Stocks of White Sage are bundled together with natural string, thread or twine to create these small smudge sticks. There are many indigenous cultures that use Sage or other herbs to help cleanse and clear your home, office, work place, building or yourself.  If you are familiar with one of their methods for smudging, follow it, allowing plenty of uninterrupted time for yourself.  10 to 15 minutes should do it in an average size space.  Each bundle will likely provide several uses.

Along with the sage bundle (or loose leaf if you prefer), you will need matches and a fireproof dish or container.  Conch shells are commonly used for this.  When using a White Sage bundle, you may want to have one of our 'Crystal Clear Energetic Mysts' or a candle available for after the smudging.

To use, simply light the end of the bundle with the match until the leaves begin to glow. Gently blow out the flame.  You will see smoke coming from the embers.  Ensure that you have the fireproof dish below the bundle at all times to catch any falling leaves or embers. The White Sage helps to move old, stuck and or stagnant energies that are no longer serving you or your space.  As you move around the space, pay attention to corners, cupboards and shelving areas where the circulation in the room is restricted.  The White Sage is intended to move, release and neutralize the energies and air within the desire area.  Make sure windows and doors are open so that new fresh air can come into the space, while the old and stagnant moves out!  You can use this same bundle to scan and smudge your body, restoring a natural state of harmony throughout your energetic field.

  • Since White Sage neutralizes the energies in a space, many people choose to follow the clearing with something to set or claim the intention they want for the home, space or themselves.  We recommend one of our Energetic Mysts, or you could use a candle or crystal bowl or anything that symbolizes your positive intentions!
  • Always be careful when smudging.  It is your responsibility to ensure you and your property remain safe and are nurtured and cared for. There is always some risk when you are working with lighted matches or flame.
