“World peace begins with inner peace.” ~Dalai Lam

How are you this week? With everything going on in the world do you find it more challenging to take time to focus on your inner world? Has it been more challenging to find your center and happy place? Does it seem like there are more distractions that prevent you from taking time for yourself and going within? If inner peace feels elusive then creating peace in the world isn’t possible.

How can we begin? Have you thought of yourself as a healer? Hmmm. Close your eyes and feel how it resonates when you say, “I’m a healer.” Can you remember times when your physical body has healed either on its own or with help from practitioners? I believe we all are healers at some level. Some of you have chosen to enter healing professions, acquire healing techniques and tools, or create healing for others by listening. Have you created a healing and peaceful environment in your homes? Those of you who are drawn to the earth, think about how your touch or creation of beauty has helped heal the environment. What about looking within to become aware of the injured thoughts and beliefs that are often held deeply? This is one of the greatest healing experiences and gifts we can give to ourself as we acknowledge them and choose to let them go.

Each one of us plays an important part in healing and creating peace through our words, beliefs, and actions. Through our individual growth, healing and peaceful feelings we contribute to the whole. We are One. The Dalai Lama has said, “The planet does not need more successful people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds.” I feel like this is especially true in the world right now! We’ve been given a wonderful opportunity to explore how to help ourselves, the earth, and others with the aid of our inner healers. Finding a way that makes you happy is the key. What excites you? Regardless of the path you choose the healing and peace must begin within you first! This is the first step and then, if you choose, you can decide how to express your healing gifts with others.

What if you embrace the belief that your natural state of being is to be well and healthy? What does that look like for you? Do you remember how you have affected others through your kindness, smile, and touch? How many lives have you touched through your healing spirit through the years? You don’t have to be a professional healer to make a difference within yourself or with others. You are much more than you often believe. Mother Teresa has said, “There is a light in this world, a healing spirit more powerful than any darkness we may encounter. We sometimes lose sight of this force when there is suffering, too much pain. Then suddenly, the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people who hear a call and answer in extraordinary ways.”

Today, we all are encouraged and invited to let our inner lights shine brightly. Allow your inner healer to help as you take time to look within and shine your light on the injured parts of you that are waiting to be understood, forgiven, accepted, loved, and integrated. Always remember that your essence and divine nature is love and it is love that heals and transforms. Take time this week, if you can, to meet your inner healer and begin to create a more conscious relationship so that inner healing and peace can be felt and shared.
