How are you? This time of year can be stressful for many people. I was reminded recently that the Holidays can be a very happy and joyful time but it can also be a very lonely and depressing time for some people. This contrast of people feeling the “high highs” and/or the “low lows” during this time of year makes me feel grateful for the many blessings in my life. It also brings a greater awareness, once again, of the very different and unique journeys that each one of us are on. Yet, what we have in common is our core essence or what I feel is our eternal and divine nature sometimes referred to as God, Source, Soul, Life Force, Creator, Oneness, and other names in other cultures. That essence is LOVE.

So why am I bringing this up right now? Please be aware of the different experiences we are having. When we interact with people with greater awareness we can offer words of kindness; listen to someone who wants to feel heard; be a sounding board without wanting to “fix” everything; offer a smile; or express gratitude to the server, cashier, customer service representative. Your kindness just might be the spark of hope and gift that was needed right then. You may never know your impact on another person’s life just by being you! The ways you can be a gift to someone is limitless and really up to you!

Do you believe you are a gift? Why not? A gift is something that is freely given to another without compensation or strings attached. Why not think of yourself as a gift? Kindness is one of the best gifts you can give to someone and it’s free. If you feel shy you can use your intentions and imagine beautiful light and love surrounding someone. Thoughts/intentions create things don’t they? You are still a gift!

With so many celebrations, dedications, rituals and honoring of Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day and Omisoka (New Year’s Eve) it’s easy to be in the energy and excitement of these special times. I invite you to take a few moments and breathe deeply with your eyes closed. Imagine moving from your head and thoughts to the center of your chest, your heart chakra, with your eyes closed while you continue deep breathing. Imagine, as you breathe in, receiving the gift that you are. On your out breath, imagine letting go of all that you aren’t!

Notice how you feel and just BE for a few moments. Perhaps you feel a shift deep within you or maybe you feel more relaxed. Maybe you feel the gift! Whatever you feel is great even if you don’t feel different! Yes, it’s ok!!

Thich Nhat Hanh’s wise words resonated with me when he said, “Every morning when we wake up, we have twenty-four brand new hours to live. What a precious gift! We have the capacity to live in a way that these twenty-four hours will bring peace, joy and happiness to ourselves and others.”

Just think, we “get to be here and create our day”. The day can be filled with excitement and adventure or drudgery. If you think of yourself as a gift how will your day change? Remember, you are amazing and the core of you is LOVE! How could you not be a gift to others? As I bring this newsletter to close the song lyrics of Reach Out and Touch Somebody’s Hand sung by Diana Ross keep playing in my head, “Reach out and touch somebody’s hand. Make this world a better place if you can.” I believe we can. Happy Holidays to each one of you!

I love hearing from you! Please respond to the newsletter/blog via WordPress or contact me at
