“If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”
~Dr. Maya Angelou, American poet and Civil Rights Activist

What is normal? How many times have you heard people say, “I can’t wait for things to return to normal?” Is that what we really want? Is it more that we want to feel more comfortable and in control of what’s going on around us? I love Dr. Maya Angelou’s quote as she brings up the possibility that we may never know how amazing we can be in doing so.

I’ve said this before, “I believe we’ve been given a great opportunity and in many ways a gift to create a new normal.” Whatever that means for each one of us. After all, we are all creators, aren’t we? More people are awakening to the fact that we have an opportunity to reclaim our power – the power that we’ve given to others for so many years. The canvas, gardens, or manuscripts are all blank. They are ours to fill. We are the Master Gardeners, Artists, Writers, and Musicians and can create more beauty, love, and stories with amazing outcomes. It’s our choice to survive or thrive! In other words, a new normal is ours to create. Dr. Angelou tells us, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, compassion, some humor and some style.”

Our lives are ours to create and now more than ever is the time to let our voices be heard. We hear the cries of the oppressed, sick, and suffering. We see one crisis and distraction after another and I can feel heads spinning and hearts aching. There is a yearning and a crying out for change and something better for our world. With so much division, hate, sickness, racism, suppression, and paralysis by our leaders confronting us everyday we ask, “What is mine and how can I make a difference?” At times we are so overwhelmed that we can’t see a bright and hopeful future.

When we are in this space it is so important to take time for you. A time to be quiet through deep breathing, prayer, meditation; or being in the healing beauty of nature. It’s time to find our center. It’s time to be reminded that each one of us is worthy of creating and living the best life possible – a life full of love, compassion, acceptance, equality, beauty, peace, prosperity, health, understanding, and so much more. Can we love ourselves enough to let this become a part of us? Can we accept that we are becoming more than what we believe we are? Can we appreciate our own worth and individuality; and no longer believe those who want to suppress our success, creativity, beliefs, and humanity?

This is a turning point for each one of us. How we respond to the actions of others will be our experience. Let’s speak our truth as unique, compassionate and loving people. We are all connected even though we have different skills and experiences. Dr. Seuss reminds us, “Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you! Shout loud! ‘I am lucky to be what I am! . . . ‘“ Yes, we are lucky to be what and who we are as well as who we are becoming. Own it!

Tuesday, July 21st, we will offer a new 1 hour healing experience with the Messengers of Light from 6p-7p. This is a new experience and adventure requested by some of the participants in my regular Zoom sessions!
