It has been a long time since I shared the origin of our name, ‘Storm Wisdom,’ with you. Given everything that is going on, it seems like a good time to mention it again.
One of the first things I realized when I began pursuing personal growth was how easily my life could fall out of balance. I have always been good at creating and manifesting. However, sometimes while I was busy creating one thing, something else would be forgotten or fall apart. For example, if I was deeply immersed in a relationship, my focus at work might suffer. Conversely, if I was engrossed in a big project at work, my fitness or health might take a hit. It often felt like I could manage two or three things at a time, but something else would inevitably suffer.
This constant juggling led to a tricky imbalance, creating a longing that was often hard to name. Just by focusing our attention on a situation, we change it. Yet, when we shift back to whatever had our focus before, it starts to wobble and sputter again. I don’t remember the exact “aha” moment when I realized this was an Achilles heel for me, but I found it was elusive and challenging to approach differently. Notice, I didn’t say master.
Despite leading a magical and blessed life, these prolonged periods of feeling off or wobbly always felt unsettling to me. When I was younger and didn’t have the language or understanding of what was happening, it always felt like something was wrong. This often triggered an internal implosion, followed by looking externally for something to “fix” the broken. Which in truth, never works.
Then I read somewhere how necessary storms are for the planet. When the elements of earth, fire, water, and air are out of balance, the living planet senses it. When theses elements collide a storm is created. Often in ways that are uncomfortable, challenging, destructive, and inconvenient. Yet, they also bring balance to the planet (not people… the planet). This metaphor resonated with me deeply.
We too have our own elements – spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical. And just like the planet when one of these is neglected, we find ourselves off-kilter. If we stay out of balance for too long, we will create our own storm as a way to find our center or alignment.
Since this personal balance was a big focus for me when I was dreaming my business into reality, I was trying to think of a way I could incorporate it into a name? Then it struck me: Storm! That worked for me. The concept of a storm bringing balance felt fitting and symbolic for what I was trying to achieve.
Now, as we work to remodel, right-size, and relocate Storm Wisdom, I am constantly reminded that keeping my balance is just as important as finding the next new norm for Balance Wisdom… err, I mean Storm Wisdom.
Understanding and maintaining balance, both personally and within our business, is an ongoing journey. My hope is that by once again embracing the wisdom of storms, I will be reminded to prioritize my alignment and harmony amidst all this chaos.
