It’s funny, we are planning a celebration for 2 weeks from now, but in truth we’re already celebrating.
Don’t get me wrong, I am so looking forward to gathering with old friends, new friends, and family to celebrate the success of our move. Taking a moment to release and let the chaos, challenges, failed plans and ideas, and things that didn’t work out. While breathing in all that went better than planned or expected.
Okay… and I am ready to enjoy delicious bites from our favorite neighbors and non-profit The Joy Bus Diner. Most of you already know that they are moving to a new location soon. In fact it could be in the next month or so. They will just be over on 32nd Street, but we love them being next door. As the longest single-tenant in the complex I can tell you without a doubt, it felt like an island here for the longest time.
Then The Joy Bus moved in, and overnight we were part of a community. We have always had a special bond and connection with them. They have always been vocal champions of us too! Locals supporting locals, friends supporting friends. As a small business, it means a lot. So we want to celebrate them being here at Shea Plaza with us! AND they make rad food! (I had to Jennifer!)
So I hope we will see you on the 28th.
I want to say that Gisela, Millie, and I have been in a bit of a euphoric state since we opened in Suite D1. It feels festive, approachable, and best of all unique. It may have a lot of the same inventory, but somehow it feels different. One of our clients said “I always loved the other space, but it felt more like a gallery”. Which I can understand. My thought went to “you should have seen it when we opened”. It looked more like a museum then! Beautiful but different.
It has been heartwarming to see old friends stopping by to see what we’ve created. And, as we had hoped, we have new friends who are finding us as they come to visit the businesses on either side of us. And of course we do have a very cool community that has developed over the past few years, such as One Love Pet Parlor, Community Yoga, The Source (which now has a mini-setup inside of Storm Wisdom!), and Advanced Eye Works here at Shea Plaza.
There is so much to celebrate. I hope we get to do it together!
