“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.” Lao Tzu,
Ancient Chinese Taoist philosopher

As I reflected on this newsletter I began to hear Bing Crosby singing “Count Your Blessings” by Irving Berlin. He sang it in the movie White Christmas. It’s been years since I’ve seen it. Once again, another reminder to lean more and more into gratitude. Several friends and family members are faced with health challenges right now and I feel grateful for my own state of health and well-being among other things. This week I’ve wondered, with a compassionate heart, how to continue supporting others while taking care of me and my family without feeling guilty. How can I maintain a healthy balance? Have you ever felt like this? Lao Tzu reminded us that kindness creates confidence, profoundness, and love through thoughts, words, and giving. Being kind is a wonderful way to BE; however, taking time to check in and remember that being kind out of duty or obligation is something different.

I find that when I see someone suffering my heart hurts and my chest constricts. And yet I know that I can offer love and support but I can’t fix their suffering. It’s important to recognize and remember that each of our journeys is individual and unique. There are so many blessings in my life and I believe this is true for most people. In times of suffering and challenges it’s perhaps even more important to remember that focusing on gratitude can create a more positive environment. Where your thoughts and energy flow is what you attract in life many believe. Indian-American author and alternative medicine advocate, Deepak Chopra, has said that, “Gratitude opens the door to . . . The power, the wisdom, the creativity of the universe. You open the door through gratitude.” There is so much power in being grateful rather than fearful or responding with martyr energy.

I thought you might want to know that energies may feel a bit wonky right now since the full moon, Strawberry moon, appears on June 3rd. Astrologers say that there will be some powerful energy that supports personal growth, surprises, inspired moments, secrets revealed, and information may be delivered without tact. There’s also a strong and powerful drive to seek truth. Underneath the revelations remember that you deserve to enjoy a life that you want to create. Being grateful is a beautiful way to focus as you envision the life you want to create. Let this be the way to open the door to new creativity and vision.

13C poet, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic, Rumi, has said, “Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life.” Imagine the color of your cloak, how it feels when you are wearing it, and make it real! Let gratitude become the new foundation for creating the life you desire and deserve. Feel it. Choose and embrace it!

I’m holding space for each of you and sending lots of love. I hope your week is amazing! Enjoy counting your blessings!
