“I have been a seeker and I still am, but I stopped asking the books and the stars. I started listening to the teaching of my soul.” Rumi, Persian poet, Islamic scholar, and Sufi mystic

I, too, have been a seeker and still am as are many of you! I find what I’ve been seeking resides deep within me, my soul! For many years I searched for answers and guidance through reading books, attending church, going to theology school, meditating, praying, and exploring a variety of non-traditional healing methods. When my journey began I didn’t consciously know what I was seeking. I felt a yearning deep within me for something I couldn’t name. As the years have passed I now understand that this journey never ends. It is ever evolving. I’ve come to know and experience deep feelings of unconditional love, inner peace, joy, wonder, magic, beauty, and surprise!

I’m someone who likes to know what’s going to happen and how! I guess you might say that I like to be in charge! I’m laughing now because I realize that the only thing I’m in charge of is me, my choices, and how I respond to the choices that others make. I’m learning to have more trust in myself and the process of awakening on this journey home. All of my choices and experiences, some more pleasant than others, have helped me to become more of who I am now and becoming more of! Although there is so much good and beauty in our world, there is also turmoil, uncertainty, and chaos. I remind myself that chaos precedes and follows change.

At times it’s painful to watch and experience. It’s in these moments that I remember how I respond to the chaos is my choice and resulting experience.
Vietnamese Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, has said that, “We are aware that blaming and arguing can never help us and only create a wider gap between us; that only understanding, trust, and love can help us change and grow.” This time is particularly divisive with political elections and campaigning right now. Emotions are high. Most people are locked in to their beliefs and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of

compassion or seeking to understand each other. For some there are fear and intimidation tactics being used. Blaming and shaming one another is unproductive. Violence is unacceptable.

What if we leaned more into acceptance, understanding, finding common ground, trust, and love for our fellow seekers, neighbors, family members, and communities in order for us to change and grow personally and collectively? What if we support one another as equals? What if holding onto power and greed no longer dominates choices? What if we listen to our soul more? What if we remember we come from the same source, God/Goddess/All That Is, Source? What if we remember that our essence is LOVE? What if we were all willing to change? It would be amazing wouldn’t it? In fact, in order for positive change to occur some have said it will only take 1% of the population to awaken! I wonder how far we’ve come.

How are you feeling about listening to your soul? Are you in a relationship with it? I have found that listening to my soul never leads me to wrong choices. In the past I recognize that I may have ignored it at times. In fact, once I was in a situation that I chose to remain in until my soul felt like it was dying. Only then, did I choose to leave. I learned from it. This journey of life is amazing and filled with so much wonder and possibility if you are open and willing to receive it. American author, Dan Millman, has said, “So trust the process of your life unfolding, and know with certainty, through the peaks and valleys of your journey, that your soul rests safe and secure in the arms of God.” I love this thought of my soul resting safe and secure in the arms of God/Goddess/All That Is, Source. How about you?

This week I encourage you to take some quiet time to practice listening to your soul. Embrace the essence of you that’s filled with love! Listen to your body and rest if you can. There are lots of energies moving this month. October 25th was a solar eclipse and November 7-8 brings a lunar eclipse known as the Blood Moon. So those of you who are sensitive to energy shifts please practice good self-care. I’m so grateful for each one of you and I’m sending you lots of love!
