“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.” Ashley Smith, www.iamfearlesssoul.com
Have you ever arrived at your destination and didn’t remember how you got there? I don’t know about you but it sure has happened to me! Have you ever wondered how much of your life is lived on auto-pilot, so to speak? How often do you move through daily routines and by evening wonder where the day went? Too often, I’m sure. This isn’t living life consciously or with intention is it? That’s why Ashley Smith’s quote resonated with me. I realize there are times I still ‘zone out’ and navigate some days on auto-pilot. There are fewer of them I’m pleased to say; however, I still have some. How about you?
When I think about how short our time on earth is I recognize the importance of being present more and more. The only moment we really have is the present one. Why not live it more consciously? Engage all of your senses. Notice everything because what you experience in that moment will not happen again. Enjoy and live life to the fullest! Hear, see, smell; taste the rain and feel the beauty that abounds. Cherish relationships and if there are some that have served their purpose view them with gratitude and let them go willingly!
Imagine, dream, laugh, love and live life consciously! It’s more fulfilling and fun! For some, there’s always the searching for something better and more. Thich Nhat Hanh, Vietnamese Buddhist monk reminds us that, “You are what you want to become. Why search anymore? You are a wonderful manifestation. The whole universe has come together to make your existence possible. There is nothing that is not you.” Can you imagine? There is nothing that is not you! We are a part of the whole. Our journey is individual and unique and yet we are invited to remember our inter-connection with all life on the earth and beyond. How beautiful and amazing.
As I’ve become more self-aware I’ve learned what is important to me and what I value. I’ve also learned that I can change. I’m grateful and hopeful for my life. I ‘get’ to be here right now! I hope I make a difference in someone’s life everyday whether I know it or not. I’m grateful for the time I get to enjoy and grow in my relationships. I appreciate the beauty around me with all of my senses. I’m grateful to feel peaceful when chaos is everywhere. Jonas Salk, American virologist and medical researcher reminds us that, “Hope lies in dreams, in imagination, and in the courage of those who dare to make dreams into reality.” We are the creators of our lives and it’s up to us to create the life we want, change it if it’s not, and then live it to the fullest!
