“Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.” Saint Augustine, Theologian and philosopher

How often has someone said to you, “Trust your instincts or intuition, trust what you know!” How did you feel? Did you feel like you really wanted to but it was hard to trust because you couldn’t see, taste, hear, smell, or touch them? In other words, was it easy for you to believe what your 5 senses couldn’t comprehend? Was your faith unshakeable? It’s taken a long time for me to trust my instincts and not listen to my negative inner voice who never tells me the truth! For years I thought I was “less than others” because I couldn’t “see”. Then one day a couple of dear friends, after finishing a beautiful meditation, asked me to describe what I saw. And guess what? I described details, color, clothing and everything else that I “saw”. That day I learned that the way I “see” is through my “knowing”.

People “see” in many different ways. So, please don’t limit what you believe. “Seeing” can happen in a variety of ways. For example, with images, gut feelings, goosebumps, sound, or knowing to name a few. If you believe that “thoughts become things and what you believe creates your reality” then your underlying faith in believing what you can’t see, in the moment, eventually can manifest in tangible form. So much of reality creation is based on faith, isn’t it? American Baptist Minister and activist, Martin Luther King, Jr, has said, “Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” It’s that old “take a leap of faith” concept while having the courage to continue moving forward.

Some days you might feel really good about it and other days not so much! It’s all a part of the journey of spiritual awakening. So much of our journey is based on faith and trust and yet so much of it remains a mystery. The more I “let go” of what I think I know and allow the mystery and the journey to unfold the more I find the beauty, wonder, and

miracle of life before me. Don’t get me wrong, there are days I absolutely want to know what comes next! I find this happens less and less though. I feel more self-confidence and have faith in what I don’t know and can’t see. I’ve learned that there are many levels of consciousness and unseen friends. We are never alone and the interconnectedness of all life and Source is comforting and undeniable! Perhaps you feel the same way too!

The Vietnamese monk, Thich Nhat Hanh, has said, “When you have faith, your eyes are bright, your steps are confident. This is power . . . This power will not destroy you or other people around you . . . In fact, it gives you strength and energy that other people can feel.” This type of power from within is healthy. It is not about having power “over” others! Having faith in yourself and others; faith in humanity and what you can’t see goes a long way toward creating a new and more positive reality! Are you ready for it? It’s ok if you want to take it one step at a time. It’s ok to explore and experience the way you “see” while your self-confidence builds. It’s ok to let your faith lead the way as your inner power grows! It’s ok to be the best you that you can be regardless of the amount of time you take! It’s ok to realize that the staircase can be like a spiral, never ending! How fun.

I’m holding space for you this week and sending you lots of love. Enjoy taking your first step or if you’ve already done that then continue onward!
